Prepare Him Room

On the first day of December today, let’s consider the start of Advent. Advent is a season of preparing yourself for Christ’s arrival. Jesus arrived in the first century and He will return again in His Father’s time. So what does it mean to prepare for His coming? And how can we incorporate this season into our daily walk of faith?

Consider Advent as a means to celebrate Christ in a season of family gatherings, gift givings, etc. The true meaning of Christmas is Christ and His coming to save us from our sins and make us anew as His children. We also need to prepare ourselves for His Second Coming.

Christianity.com has a detailed historical explanation and purpose of Advent with scriptures for you to use in this season of preparation.

My plan is to create a post weekly for each of the following themes with resources to encourage you. The weekly themes are as follows:

  1. Hope & Faith-
  2. Peace
  3. Joy
  4. Love

I’ve noticed that various sites and groups have different orders/themes for the weeks. The focus is on Christ, not a “rigid” order of weekly themes. Advent helps us to remember Christ and also to remind ourselves that He is going to return again!

Focus on the Family has a free downloadable daily advent prayer guide. They send a link to your email for download. I downloaded this resource this morning. It’s easy to follow with scripture for each day of the week.

Just a pilgrim walking each day with Jesus and hoping to encourage others along the path.
